{"id":630,"date":"2022-07-02T12:01:27","date_gmt":"2022-07-02T15:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/glaubersilva.me\/?p=630"},"modified":"2022-07-06T09:19:05","modified_gmt":"2022-07-06T12:19:05","slug":"how-to-access-a-remote-linux-server-on-windows-via-ssh-using-putty-integrated-into-winscp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/glaubersilva.me\/pt\/how-to-access-a-remote-linux-server-on-windows-via-ssh-using-putty-integrated-into-winscp\/","title":{"rendered":"How to access a remote Linux server on Windows via SSH using PuTTY integrated into WinSCP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To access the terminal of your remote Linux server from your local Windows machine and run some commands like <strong>&#8220;sudo apt \u2026&#8221;<\/strong>, <strong>&#8220;htop&#8221;<\/strong>, <strong>&#8220;ncdu&#8221;<\/strong>, and many others, you&#8217;ll need an SSH client like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.putty.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PuTTY<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the best way to do that is by integrating it into the <a href=\"https:\/\/winscp.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WinSCP<\/a> client because this way, you can manage your FTP\/SFTP\/SSH (and even other protocols) accesses in the same place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, to make the integration, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Before everything, <a href=\"https:\/\/winscp.net\/eng\/download.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">download the WinSCP client<\/a> and install it;<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chiark.greenend.org.uk\/~sgtatham\/putty\/latest.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download the PuTTY client<\/a> and install it &#8211; note down the installation path;<\/li><li>On the WinSCP, access the&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;Preferences&#8221;<\/strong>&nbsp;screen (you can do that by clicking the gear icon on the top of the main screen or you can use the&nbsp;<em>&#8220;New Session &gt; Tools &gt; Preferences&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;path) and after that go to the&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;Integration &gt; Applications&#8221;<\/strong>&nbsp;section;<\/li><li>On the <strong>&#8220;PuTTY\/Terminal client path&#8221;<\/strong> option insert the putty.exe path (where you previously installed), also make sure that the <strong>&#8220;Remember session password and pass it to PuTTY (SSH)&#8221;<\/strong> option is checked and click <strong>&#8220;OK&#8221;<\/strong> to save;<\/li><li>Now every time you want to acces a server via SSH, you can right-click on a server from the WinSCP list of servers (already added previously by you) and choose <strong>&#8220;Open in PuTTY&#8221;<\/strong>.
